Dutchess County Non-Profit Eden Share, Inc. Celebrates One Year of Supporting Local Human Services Agencies through Gardening

Poughquag, NY, May 30, 2025 – Eden Share, Inc. an innovative nonprofit dedicated to bringing the emotional and physical health benefits of gardening to underserved individuals, is celebrating its one-year anniversary by announcing important growth metrics, including board expansion, grant awards and community engagement.

Eden Share named Anu Ahluwalia and Natalie Huntley to its Board of Directors this May. Anu has over 25 years of experience in corporate communications and media relations in financial services. She believes in building stronger, safer communities by offering purpose and pride in our local neighborhoods.

Natalie brings over 18 years of experience working in human services and healthcare and supporting marginalized children and families in urban communities. She has a passion for improving mental health and treatment services to offer holistic and person-centered care.

“I’m so pleased Natalie and Anu have joined the board of Eden Share at this inflection point in our growth,” said Scott Pidgeon, Eden Share Founder and Board Member. “They both bring valuable experience and diverse perspectives from the corporate and non-profit sectors.”

In addition, Eden Share celebrates these important achievements:

  • Securing a five-year lease with Family Services, Inc. at the Family Partnership Center to create Eden Share’s signature garden – The Wellness Garden.

  • Receiving grant funding from Mid-Hudson Valley Credit Union, the Poughkeepsie Garden Club, Mental Health America – Dutchess County, and Heritage Financial Credit Union to build out The Wellness Garden.

  • Participating in community events like the Dutchess County Health Fair.

  • Securing contracts with Mental Health America of Dutchess County and People USA, Inc. to bring weekly gardening sessions to their clients.

“We are thrilled with the community engagement and support we have received in our first year and hope we can expand our reach.”, said David Garland, Eden Share Board President. “Eden Share brings gardening and hope to communities, while providing skills and healthy food to underserved communities. We are optimistic about the meaningful impact we will make, one garden at a time.”

Gardening has long been an important part of physical and mental wellness in many parts of the world, and Eden Share is bringing these proven benefits to our underserved communities in New York. Educational programming is held throughout the season and focuses on a variety of topics; from soil health and pest management to mindful gardening and everything in between.
